Wrekking Hours feature of Sony BMG Music’s Roy Orbison Radio Documentary
Over the past 60 years Rock and Roll music has grown as a uniquely American music. Combining Blues, Hillbilly and Jazz influences, the originators of Rock and Roll created an unmistakable sound that became popular in the mid to late 1950s. One such originator had a sound all his own and has influenced the majority of popular Rock and Roll artists to this day. When any music from this artist is heard, it can be instantly recognized by the main stream audience all over the world, as the one and only, Roy Orbison.
Winter has served as a landmark season in the career of Roy Orbison. In honor of the 20 anniversary of Roy Orbison’s final release and unfortunate passing, the Wrekking Hours radio show will feature a radio documentary of the life and music of Roy Orbison through his songs, his own words, and comments by many musicians inspired by him – such as: Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Jeff Lynne, Tom Waits, Robin and Barry Gibb, Chet Atkins, T-Bone Burnett and many more.
This 6 part Wrekking Hours radio special will be featured as a 20 minute segment during the second hour of each episode starting February 2, 2009.
The Wrekking Hours can be heard weekly on 89.3fm in the Detroit area and on www.whfr.fm online from 4-6pm EST (GMT-5).
